This prestigious recognition is the highest award bestowed by the Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE), and it is a testament to Dr. Wyeth’s exceptional contributions to the field of gastroenterology and his enduring impact on the global medical community.
For over 60 years, APAGE has been at the forefront of advancing digestive health across the Asia Pacific region, representing countries that constitute more than 50% of the global population. The Master of APAGE Award honors those senior gastroenterologists who have played a pivotal role in the growth of the specialty and have demonstrated unwavering dedication to clinical practice, education, and research.
Dr. Wyeth has been a long-time supporter of APAGE, attending and presenting at its meetings for many years. His research and educational papers have not only advanced our understanding of digestive health but have also inspired countless gastroenterology trainees to push the boundaries of knowledge. As a Council Member for APAGE for 8 years, Dr. Wyeth has mentored future leaders in the field, and his support for the organization’s goals has been invaluable.

• Private practice in Wellington and working at Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay Public Hospitals
• Former President of the New Zealand Society of Gastroenterology (NZSG)
• Former Clinical Leader for Gastroenterology in Wellington
• Former Medical Director of PHARMAC, New Zealand’s drug funding agency
• Founding Board Member of Crohn’s Colitis NZ
Dr. Wyeth’s clinical interests include Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and motility, and he has devoted years to clinical research and medical student teaching. His unwavering commitment to improving patient care, advancing research, and supporting the next generation of gastroenterologists makes this award so well-deserved.
